What we collect, why, and how to make us delete it.
This policy explains what SelectoPicks LLC collects when you use Selectopicks, why, who it is shared with, and what you can make us do about it.
Who is responsible
SelectoPicks LLC is the controller of personal data collected through this site. Contact: hello@selectopicks.com, 100 Main Street, Suite 400, Wilmington, DE 19801, United States.
What we collect
- Technical data, automatically. IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed and time of visit. This is standard server and analytics data.
- Click data. When you use a "Visit Site" button we record that an outbound click happened and which brand it went to, so we can see which comparisons are useful and reconcile commissions.
- Anything you send us. If you email us, we hold your message and address for as long as needed to deal with it.
- Cookie and similar identifiers. Set by us and by third parties, as described in our cookie policy.
We do not ask for or knowingly collect special category data such as health, religious or political information, and we do not build profiles about your health from the categories you browse.
Why we use it
- To operate and secure the site, and to diagnose faults. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- To measure which content is useful and improve it. Legal basis: legitimate interests, or consent where analytics cookies require it.
- To attribute and reconcile affiliate commissions. Legal basis: legitimate interests, and consent where tracking cookies require it.
- To answer your enquiries. Legal basis: legitimate interests, or performance of a contract where relevant.
- To meet legal and accounting obligations. Legal basis: legal obligation.
Who it is shared with
We do not sell personal data. We share it with:
- Affiliate networks and brands, when you click an outbound link. The network sets a cookie to attribute a possible purchase and processes that data under its own privacy policy. We receive commission reports, not your purchase details or payment information.
- Analytics and hosting providers, acting as processors on our instructions.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to disclose.
Once you leave this site by clicking a partner link, the destination site's own privacy policy governs what happens next. We have no control over it and no access to what you do there.
International transfers
Our providers and affiliate networks may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where that happens for data protected by UK or EU law, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Server and analytics logs are kept for up to 26 months. Outbound click records are kept for as long as needed to reconcile commissions and resolve disputes, normally up to 24 months. Email correspondence is kept for up to 24 months after the matter is closed, or longer where we are required to retain it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable format. You can withdraw cookie consent at any time. If you are in the EEA or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority.
California residents. We do not sell personal information for money. Some cookie-based advertising and affiliate tracking may count as "sharing" or as a sale under the CCPA as amended. You can opt out by refusing non-essential cookies, and you have the right to know, delete, correct, and not be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
To exercise any right, email hello@selectopicks.com. We respond within the period the applicable law requires, and we may need to verify who you are first.
Children
This site is for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use HTTPS, restrict access to the systems that hold data, and keep what we collect to a minimum. No website can promise perfect security, and we do not.
Changes
If we change this policy we update the date at the top, and for material changes we say so on the site.
